just sweep it under the rug. no one'll know.

I watched "Atomic Cafe" last night. If you have not seen it, you must go get it right now. Unless you already know everything about the atomic bomb. I didn't....and now I do....and it just makes me more irritated with the government. I don't know what they were thinking...oh wait, I guess I kinda do. They were thinking, "hey, we're the United States of America. We can do whatever we want. No one can mess with us because we're the most powerful country in the world. So let's blow up Hiroshima and these poor natives' beautiful island with our atomic bomb, as a TEST." A freakin' test. "hey, let's see how much damage this bomb does. No one cares about the Japanese or natives of Bikini."

Oh my goodness....where did they get this kind of thinking? That nobody else matters, that we don't have to care about people of other nationalities. Certainly it isn't natural. I'm so happy for how things are today, yet in some ways we really aren't that different from the 1940s. With war, we don't care who we're blowing up, really. I mean, ultimately, we're trying to get rid of the "terrorists", but in the path of them lie thousands of innocents. We care for about five minutes, and then go back to eating our dinners. Yes, it's great that America is one of the safest countries in the world. But to what expense is it not worth it anymore?

Anyway....I did not intend to write a bunch about the governement and war and stuff....just things in the film got to me. It irritates me that they did not teach us about this or about the Japanese concentration camps in high school. Chickens.

Okay. Next topic. I went to the Mac library today. I love that library (but not as much as SOU's, of course). I haven't been there since I was a freshman in college. It's almost the same. Except...when I left for college, they had just changed the rules for checking out books to 3 books for "non-residents". Which is what I am, because I live in the sticks. UGH. Anyway, so I pick out three books today and I get to the counter and the girl says, "oh, you can only check out one book because you're a 'non-resident'". And I'm like, "what?". I asked her if there was anything I could do to check out more books, and she said I'd have to pay the fee, which is SIXTY-FREAKIN'-DOLLARS for a year. Hell, I should just join Friends of the Hannon Library, it's only $35 a year. But they won't ship books to me...and I don't wanna drive down there. I mean, yeah, $60 for a year isn't really that much...but it's stupid. Back in the day I could check out all the freakin' books I wanted! Lame. Guess this means I just gotta move to town. Or something.

Jeez it's freezin' in here! Heat is sooo expensive....but I don't care now, I can't take it anymore! Hope you are all having a lovely Halloween....mine is going to be just like every Tuesday night, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. Just not feeling Halloween this year. I'm blaming it on Ashland.
