But actually, my life doesn't seem that out-of-control right now. Doesn't seem so crazy. Yes, I am busy, but it's a normal kind of busy. A good busy. Finally.
So....I had an interview on February 16 at a CPA firm, a job that I actually really wanted. I'd prayed about it and had others pray about it. At the end of the interview (2 hours!!) they offered me the job! They actually wanted me to start the very next day! I needed that day though, so I told them I'd start the day after. What a blessing, though!! This job is perfect....it's almost exactly the same thing I was doing before, minus some responsibilities (which is nice...) and it's part-time. Well, except for tax season, which is reasonable. I was working about 25-30 hours a week during tax season, which is over today.....Praise the Lord!! ;-)
So, now I'll be working about 20 hours a week, which is perfect. I still have my 3 bookkeeping clients, which I intend to keep as long as possible. And I'm still very involved in the non-profit (Straight Path, Inc.). AND, I'm still on the worship team at Irvington Covenant Church. However, I have cut my commitment in half, at least for this season, as I try to juggle all these moving pieces of life. Plus, I was getting kind of burnt out. I want to prevent that as much as possible, because I really love singing on the worship team. It shouldn't be exhausting!
In March, our Korean ELS student moved out and Motomi moved in, from Japan. She's already been studying English here for about 5 months. We love having her in our house! She's lots of fun - so energetic and is always doing or saying something funny. She has a wonderful sense of humor! At first she was only going to stay one month with us, but since then she's decided to stay at least until June! We are so excited to have her stay longer! Hopefully the weather will warm up soon so we can show her the best parts of Oregon, the outdoors!
In February, an ELS student from Korea moved in with our neighbors. Her name is Mijin and she is so sweet! She's Christian, so she goes to ICC with Natasha and I every Sunday. Mijin and I have hung out a lot and I've gotten to know a lot about her. I enjoy spending time with her and helping her with her English, of which she is really good at!
Also in March, my church had a weekend-long conference called "Invitation to Racial Righteousness." It was amazing, and kind of draining. At the conference, we examined our individual lives and how we have been affected by racism. It's a starting point for healing the pain between races, at least in our church. We'll be having many more conversations about it and probably other conferences similar to this one. I'm STILL processing some of my feelings about that weekend. It was really heavy. But it was really great, and I am thankful to my church and the denomination for providing this opportunity.
Last weekend I took Motomi and Mijin to Silver Falls and the Christian Renewal Center. It was SO FUN! And it didn't rain, Hallelujah! We had a wonderful time hiking around the falls. They liked CRC too, especially the swinging bridge. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to show them two of my favorite places in Oregon.
Well, that's about it. I'm looking forward to Easter. It's funny....I can't recall a time where I actually was looking FORWARD to Easter, instead of just moving towards it heavy-hearted. I'm making more of a point to prepare myself for this season, instead of just letting it happen to me. Plus, Mijin and I are going to Bekka's (Bryan's GF) parents' house for Easter dinner. I went last year and it was so fun! Bekka has a delightful family.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!!
