rock solid

I am very proud of myself. Despite everything that went on at home this weekend, I did not cry. I was like a rock! Maybe not such a great thing, overall, but for this weekend it was good. Whew!

So yesterday mom, dad, and I drove up to Silver Falls. We hiked North and Upper North Falls. It was really pretty, and a nice day. Oh! And the night before we went up the hill to watch the fireworks (the hill behind our house) and it was awesome! There was a huge thunderstorm so we got to see huge lightning strikes as well as St. Paul's giant fireworks. It was incredible.

So, back to yesterday. After hiking the falls we went up to CRC. We were kind of early, or so we thought. Turns out Bryan told us the wrong time for the BBQ, it was actually 5:30pm, not 6:30. Genius. Oh well. The chicken and the kabobs were amazing! Probably some of the best food I've ever had at CRC. :)

After dinner I attempted to talk to Laurie (she was my 2nd grade summer camp teacher and we've been pen pals since, she lives in Mexico but is teaching again this summer) but the other summer staffers stole her, so I hung out with Lindsay, Christine, and Wyatt instead. We accidentally watched Napoleon Dynamite. Christine had never seen it!

After that I went up to Good Shepherd to find Bryan and my parents, and watch the fireworks display. It was pretty awesome, despite the mass amounts of bugs. Bryan gave me bug spray but it was from Thailand and honestly, I think it only protects agains Thai bugs, not American bugs. Silly boy. So I got eaten alive anyway. All in all, it was a good night. Not our regular 4th of July, but I think we needed it to be more low-key. Now I'm back in the big Portland, trying not to go crazy. It actually only took me an hour and ten minutes to get to PSU from home. I'm pretty sure that's only because there was hardly any traffic. So there's still reason for me to be in Scappoose.

Oh, an update on my cousin, she gets released from the hospital today. For those of you who don't know, she tried to commit suicide Saturday night. My mom and I went to see Grandma on Monday and she said that she did do it at home, but then wrapped up her wrist, drove herself to the hospital, and then called Grandpa. Grandma thinks she'll be okay, and I do too. It sounds like she was in a weird frame of mind but then realized what she was doing right after she did it and decided she really didn't want to die. I haven't been able to talk to her yet though, so I don't really know. I hope it's nothing worse and that she'll be okay. Keep her in your prayers though, just in case.

Well, I should probably go study some statihhstics. Got a test tomorrow, lucky me! I'm really not worried, it's open book and open note. Hahaha, what's the point of that! Hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend! I miss all you Ashlanders, and especially all you circies!
