So it's been an interesting couple of days. Tuesday I was driving to class when my phone rings and it's an "unknown" number. Turns out it's the USBank headquarters and they inform me that they think my ATM card number and pin number are being used by someone else. So I call the fraud department and sure enough, someone in California had taken $700 using my ATM card number and pin number on Monday and then $284 later the same day. Mind you, I only had $550 in the account to begin with. Thank Heavens for my line of credit or I would be in a bigger mess than I am. I have no idea how they got my card number or pin number because I've had the card the whole time and I hardly ever use it as debit. I think the last time I used it was at Winco, when I was in Ashland, and possibly three months ago at the Dollar Tree in Ashland. That's all I can think of. The lady at the bank said that sometimes employees can track the card and pin numbers and then they give that information to someone else in their network and then those people make a card and send it out of state and the card can be used in an ATM. I'm never using my card for pin purchases again!
So Tuesday was the longest day ever. I had lunch with Ali and Corrine and then I had class and then I went to the nearest USBank branch and filled out affadavits and a report, and then I called the police to file a police report only to have the police show up at the house (which is not mine, I'm house-sitting while I take my class) and then tell me that I have to call the McMinnville police since technically that is where the money was taken out of because McMinnville is my home branch. So I do all that and by then it's time to go hang out with Ali, Corrine, and Ellen. The policeman calls me back right before I get to Corrine's and I give him all the information. Done.
Now I just have to wait for my new card to come in plus some extra paperwork (I don't know what else I would possible have to do now) and then go to my parents' house and pick it up. Through all this I have just been in complete shock...no other real emotions. Except I almost cried when the lady was telling me all that had happened. If she hadn't reassurred me that I was not liable for replacing the funds, I probably would have lost it. That's it though. I haven't been angry or anything, just in disbelief that this happened to me and I didn't lose my card or anything. Weeeeeiiiiiiird.
Today I had my second stats test. UGH. I'm not so sure about it. It took me the whole time and I couldn't even finish the last answer. Oh well. I hope I did at least a little more than half of them right...
Hope you are all having a lovely summer! The weather's been weird and I'm not used to it because I've spent the last three summers in Ashland...where it's hot hot hot!
